Young swedish architecture

A new generation of architects – children of the 60s and 70s – are beginning to make names for themselves in Sweden, very much due to private clients, but hitherto have had difficulty in landing major public projects. Through this exhibition the Museum hopes to make the architecture of the younger generation known to a wider public. Orangery by Dynamo Stockholm Arkitekter AB. Photo: Ulf Palm.
Of course the exhibition ”Young Swedish Architecture” does not include all the good young Swedish architecture there is to see but the exhibition does give an insight into the best of young Swedish housing architecture which can be essentially termed interactive, changeable and lean.
Invitations went out to some forty architects, nearly all of them in small practices, but also to one or two distinguished members of larger offices.

Half of these were selected. The selection was based on the following criteria:
The exhibition is constructed as a sequence of individualised rooms. Each exhibitor has been allotted a separate room to “wallpaper” in accordance with certain specified requirements.

The exhibitors were asked to present projects defining them in their profession as architects. The result is a kind of architectural graffiti, a buzz of expression.
